Bitter Divorce for Creator of Modern Family
Bitter Divorce for Creator of Modern Family

Steve Levitan, the creator of the hit television show Modern Family, is facing an ugly divorcefrom his wife of 23 years, Krista. She filed the divorce paperwork in January and has sought an order trying to prevent Steve from coming close to the family home.

According to TMZ, Krista’s divorce attorney is using a “scorched earth” policy in his efforts to destroy Levitan’s reputation. Steve doesn’t understand this approach since they have millions of dollars that they can split and there is no prenuptial agreement, so there should be no need for fighting an animosity.

Krista doesn’t see it the same way. In support of her request for a restraining order, she alleges he barged into the family home uninvited and he has harassed her.

In response, Levitan’s legal documents state, “I have never assaulted my wife. I have never threatened to assault my wife. These allegations are abusive, false and an attempt to smear my name and reputation.”

The judge agreed with Levitan and denied the restraining order, but that isn’t the end of the couple’s disputes. Krista claims that Levitan’s take home pay before taxes exceeds $2.4 million per monthTMZ has reported that the family’s monthly expenses include:

  • $11,849 on clothes
  • $100 on laundry and cleaning
  • $9,592 on education and another $7,705 on childcare, which is odd since the couple only has three adult children
  • $1,901 on beauty and grooming
  • $1,299 on fitness and health
  • $1,333 on pet care

Krista claims that Steve has stashed away significant savings of at least $1 million each month.
