Book Review: All Pro Dad
Get ready to be inspired dads. This 200 page book is full of stories, insights, and observations which are likely to inspire and help guide dads new and old.
Mark Merrill, pictured above with his family, knows a little something about fatherhood having raised five children. He is also president of Family First, a national non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening the family. Mark hosts the Family Minute with Mark Merrill, a nationally syndicated daily radio program. He has appeared on NBC’s Today Show, numerous ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC network affiliates and national radio programs.
Merrill breaks the book into eight chapters, the first comprised of fundamentals and the other seven offering specific guidance on topics such as knowing yourself, how to better love your family, how best to be a role model, and more. At one point in the book he cites former Steelers head coach Chuck Noll who said:
Champions are champions not because they do anything extraordinary but because they do the ordinary things better than anyone else.
This book is a perfect example of the above theory in practice. It doesn’t make promises or offer gimmicks to solve every problem a father may face. It gives insights into how to be a good father day after day. How to make your approach to fatherhood better day after day.
One of the book’s strongest points is the tone which Merrill takes throughout. It is not a holier-than-thou perspective where he is there preaching to fathers lesser than him. He approaches the whole book with a deep sense of sincerity and honesty, openly addressing his own shortcomings as a father.
With Father’s Day right around the corner the “All Pro Dad” book should be on the list for any father. It will grab you attention and engage you from cover to cover, inspiring all fathers to improve for themselves and their family.
