Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams Call it Quits
Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams Call it Quits

After nearly six years of marriage, Ryan Adams and Mandy Moore have filed for divorce. According to a statement by Moore’s representative, it was a mutual decision to divorce and it is an “amicable parting of ways.” Irreconcilable differences was cited as the reason for the marriage failing and Moore has requested spousal support from Adams.

The singers were married in a private wedding in Savannah, Georgia, in 2009. They had only been engaged for four weeks. Last year the couple celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary with a festive and goofy party with their friends. Moore even claimed the last five years with Adams had been “the best.”

Shortly after news of their divorce broke, Adams appeared in a pre-taped segment of The Late Late Show. He performed his emotional balled “Gimme Something Good.”

The couple has always kept private about their relationship. In fact, Adams cut an interview by an Australian radio show short last year after being questioned about Moore. He later explained: “I’m a private person and I’ll be a gentleman and say I’m not talking about my marriage ever. I’ll never talk about it. Ever.”

Moore and Adams collaborated together numerous times, including their duet “Empty Rooms.” Adams has even been reported as assisting Moore in recent weeks with a follow-up to last album.

Although the couple never had children, there may still be a “custody battle” over their seven cats and two dogs.
