Michelle Branch, 31, filed for divorce from her husband of almost 11 years, Teddy Landau, 50, in February of this year. She cited irreconcilable differences and sought joint custody of the couple’s child, Owen Isabelle, 10.
Landau was the “Everywhere” singer’s former bassist and the couple married in 2004 in Mexico. Branch previously told People that “[m]y relationship had a very rocky start. My parents hated the idea – and now love him, of course. My dad never wanted me to be with a musician. I mean, how unrealistic is that? I’m not going to fall for an accountant! And when he found out he was closer in age to my husband than I was, he got very nervous.”
The couple has now finalized their divorce and Branch has been awarded the rights to her music. TMZ reports that Branch will keep all of her “musical compositions, demos, master recordings and royalties.” Landau was awarded a Mustang, a 2015 GMC truck and some other assets.
Branch and Landau will share custody of their daughter with a “week-on, week-off” schedule. Although no office child support plan was reached, the couple intends to equally divide her school expenses.
Branch is most commonly known for her two top-selling albums, The Spirit Room and Hotel Paper. She also won a Grammy with Santana for “The Game of Love“.
Branch formed a country music duo with her friend Jessica Harp in 2005. They called themselves “The Wreckers.” The duo produced “Leave the Pieces,” which was a Grammy-nominated single. The Wreckers disbanded in 2007 to pursue solo careers. Branch released extended plays in 2010 and 2011.
