When Miranda Lambert divorced Blake Shelton in 2015, she decided to stay silent about their split to the media. She says she holds no grudges against Shelton, who’s dating No Doubt Lead vocalist, Gwen Stefani. Since her divorce, Lambert released a new CD, “The Weight of These Wings.”
At a show at Joe’s Bar in Chicago in January, Lambert told the audience how she dealt with her divorce. “I got divorced, so I started drinking a little extra,” she told the crowd before singing her song “Ugly Lights.” “I found myself in Midtown in Nashville three nights in a row at like last call and with the lights coming on, and I’d be sitting there,” she said of the inspiration behind “Ugly Lights.” “So I wrote a song about it.”
Since their marriage in 2011, various tabloids and other media sources reported that Shelton was unfaithful to Lambert. The couple coped with these rumors by responding with tweets such as: “I just read in a tabloid that our marriage is falling apart!!!” posted by Shelton in 2013. Resulting in Lambert responding: “Oh no! Can’t wait to read if we make it or not.”
Yet, the couple announced the end of their relationship in 2015 after four years of marriage. Shelton, 39 filed for divorce and kept the couple’s Oklahoma ranch while Lambert, 31, received their home in Nashville purchased by the couple in 2014. It was Shelton’s second marriage and Lambert’s first.
“This is not the future we envisioned. And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends, and colleagues.”
It was reported that the primary cause of the split was that Shelton was eager to have children, while Lambert relished her freedom from such responsibilities. I think they both were off on what the time frame would be,” said one source.
Apparently, because of Lambert’s rigorous touring schedule, the couple was never together, and Shelton wanted them to move close to being together. Lambert’s main priority is her career at this point in her life, especially since she is at the peak of her career and has the ability to record and tour at will.
