How do I prove ownership of a dog in a same sex divorce?
In a same-sex divorce case proving ownership of a dog can be complicated. Hopefully, there is a written record or receipt showing that the dog was payed for by one of the parties as opposed to being payed for both parties. If the dog was payed for by both parties, then the court will have to make a determination who will receive the dog and the dog will be considered an asset like all of the other assets in the divorce.
