Rosie O’Donnell Turns Diva in Divorce Court

Rosie O’Donnell’s bitter divorce from Michelle Rounds had some new drama when O’Donnell made her first appearance in divorce court. O’Donnell, who quit The View last year to reduce her stress level, had a meltdown.

Although O’Donnell’s estranged wife, Michelle Rounds, was not present in court, O’Donnell became angry when she discovered reporters were present in divorce court. When O’Donnell expressed her outrage at the press covering the proceedings, reporters reminded the 53 year old comic that courtrooms are open to the public.

Not to be stopped, O’Donnell asked the judge to bar the press from the proceedings. Lori Sattler, the Manhattan Supreme Court Justice presiding over the couple’s divorce case, had O’Donnell escorted to a secured room across the hall from the courtroom. During the more than two hour hearing, the judge, law clerks, and attorneys traveled from room to room to confer. There were no public comments when the hearing concluded.

At the center of the couple’s dispute is their 2-year old daughter, Dakota. Things between O’Donnell and Rounds turned ugly when Rounds filed seeking full custody of Dakota. The child was home sick with a high fever and Rounds missed the hearing to stay home and care for her.

Rounds has made allegations that O’Donnell is not a fit mother and that she typically leaves Dakota with nannies. She has further claimed that O’Donnell is too busy with her older children from a prior marriage to focus on Dakota. According to radar Online, O’Donnell is currently expecting her sixth child with her new girlfriend, Sophie B. Hawkins. Hawkins is a singer and songwriter.
