Rosie O’Donnell’s Divorce & Departure from The View

Rosie O’Donnell, 52, and her wife of three years, Michelle Rounds, have announced that their marriage is over. O’Donnell has also announced her departure from The View so she can focus on her five children.

It has been reported that O’Donnell and Rounds have been living separately for several months. A representative for O’Donnell provided a statement saying:

I can confirm that Rosie and her wife Michelle split in November. Rosie has teens and an infant at home that need her attention. This has been a very stressful situation. She is putting her personal health and family first. ABC has been wonderfully understanding and supportive of her personal decision to leave ‘The View.’ Next week will be her last.

O’Donnell and Rounds were married in June of 2012. They adopted a baby girl, Dakota, in 2013. O’Donnell also has four older children.

In 2007, O’Donnell made a chaotic departure from The View. She returned to the talk show last fall, but rumors began to surface regarding tension on the set. However, O’Donnell and ABC have indicated that O’Donnell’s decision to leave The View was based solely on her desire to put her well-being and her family first.

Earlier this month O’Donnell debuted her HBO special “A Heartfelt Stand Up” about her life, including her 2012 heart attack that almost killed her. The hour-long special did not mention the divorce from Rounds, but their courtship provided some of the special’s content. There has been no word on who will take Rosie O’Donnell’s place on The View.
