Rosie O’Donnell’s divorce from Michelle Rounds is getting heated. The estranged wives are embroiled in a bitter custody battle over their two-year old daughter, Dakota, who they adopted in 2013. Rounds is making claims that she is the “better mother.”
As reported by Closer Weekly, Rounds, 42, stated “[h]onestly, I used to be afraid of Rosie, but I’m not afraid of Rosie anymore because I want what’s best for Dakota. And what’s best for Dakota is to be with me. I am the better mother. Dakota should be with me.”
In an interview with TMZ, Rounds expounded by saying that “[d]ivorce is really hard, but imagine going through a divorce with a celebrity, somebody who is very, very powerful, someone who has all the media and publicists and all that behind them. I’m just a normal person, [it’s] David versus Goliath.”
Rounds has criticized the 53 year old talk show host’s hands-off approach to being a parent. She alleges that O’Donnell consistently leaves Dakota with nannies. Further, Rounds has alluded to O’Donnell’s drinking habits and use of marijuana, but states that the truth will come out in court.
O’Donnell is not taking the attack lying down. Her camp claims that Rounds is seeking full custody of Dakota for the money. Apparently, the couple has a prenuptial agreement and O’Donnell believes that Rounds is trying to hit where it hurts most so O’Donnell will get out her checkbook.
