Daniel Baldwin Engaged! Will He Get a Prenuptial Agreement?
Daniel Baldwin, the younger brother to Alec Baldwin, is engaged to his girlfriend of a year, Robin Sue Hertz. The couple was at the Fort Lauderdale Film Festival when Daniel hid the ring in a glass of cranberry juice. As soon as Robin discovered it, she said “Yes!” Baldwin designed the ring himself, which includes a nearly five carat, marquise-cut diamond with baguette diamonds.
Baldwin was at the festival promoting his film “The Wisdom to Know the Difference.” He also received the festival’s Renaissance Award for writing, directing and starring in the movie, which also won awards of its own.
This will be Baldwin’s fourth marriage. He has five children from prior relationships, ranging in age from six years old to 30. Daniel’s prior marriage to Joanne Smith-Baldwin was tumultuous and Baldwin was forced to pursue a restraining order against his wife when he filed for divorce.
With his history, one can only hope that Daniel Baldwin has the wisdom to obtain a prenuptial agreement (also referred to as a “prenup”). A prenup is a contract signed by future spouses that sets forth how their assets will be divided, the amount of spousal support to be paid (if any), and other financial matters in the event of divorce. It can be an effective tool for protecting children from previous marriages. For people like Daniel Baldwin, making sure all of your children from different partners are protected is extremely important.
You may have heard that it is a bad sign to have a prenuptial agreement because it is planning for the marriage to end. However, reaching an agreement while the parties are happy and able to be objective can be beneficial. It allows the parties to prevent further hurt in an already difficult situation. Having a prenuptial agreement does not cause divorce, it only help prevent further hurt caused by divorce.
